VILLAGE OF NEW RICHMOND CEMETERIES
RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. All burials shall be human beings only; no other burial will be permitted.
2. The grave must be paid in full before burial can be made. Opening and closing fees must be paid in full at the time of the burial.
3. Graves may be reserved for ninety days at the option of the Village Administrator. Payments are accepted.
4. All burials are to be made with a concrete or metal vault.
5. All sales and transfer of graves must go through the Village Administrator. No graves may be sold for profit. A five-dollar ($5.00) fee will be required on all transfers.
6. Temporary markers must be readable for at least one (1) year.
7. It shall be the owner, heir, or their agent’s responsibility to report any unauthorized burial to the Village Administrator.
8. The Village Administrator reserves the right to move any unauthorized burial.
9. All village cemeteries will be open at 8:00 am and will close at sunset. Any unauthorized person found in a village cemetery after closing time may be subject to a fine or imprisonment or both.
10. No intoxicating beverages, drugs, or hallucinogens shall be permitted in village cemeteries. Any person having these in a village cemetery may be subject to a fine or imprisonment or both.
11. There shall be no littering of waste paper, weeds, grass, garbage, trash, etc. Any person so doing may be subject to a fine.
12. All monuments must be at least 4 inches high, and no higher than 36 inches above the ground. All monuments must have foundations with an outer edge extending 4 inches outward from the edge of the monument, and be installed at ground level to prevent the need of trimming of grass around them.
13. Grave markers upkeep (except government markers) shall be the responsibility of the family or owner. The Village Administrator will not be responsible for damage, vandalism, or upkeep of markers. All rubble will be removed and broken grave markers, not cared for, will be subject to action deemed necessary by the Village Administrator towards judgment.
14. Shrubs, trees, monument foundations, unrecorded cremations, benches, fountains or any construction is prohibited without the consent of the Village Administrator.
15. All mowing and trimming of the cemetery shall be completed by the Village of New Richmond.
