In the Spring of 2018 a 3rd year student regional planning studio from the University of Cincinnati DAAP program worked with four historic Ohio River Villages, (New Richmond, Moscow, Ripley, and Augusta) collectively in asking how this region can be better planned to accommodate their unique concerns but also leverage the capacity of a regional approach. The students used the 13 week class to gain insight to issues/concerns along a 40 mile stretch of Ohio River Corridor. The planning class initially divided itself into 5 teams, with four teams concentrating on the represented communities and the 5th team looking at the corridor. Over the course of the semester the class formed regional approaches that can be represented and applied at the community scale. A two hour event on April 26, 2018 at New Richmond Village Hall culminated the students effort where they shared the process and outcomes of envisioning the corridor.

Energy OpportunitiesAdditionally a team of planners and architects from UC DAAP's Graduate School lead by Professor Travis Miller did an in depth study of the village's energy portfolio. Their goal was to diversify New Richmond’s energy portfolio by providing data, research, potential energy solutions, and educational material regarding New Richmond energy options.
